Marketing for penetration testing firms in Australia
PayloadFoundry provides SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) for Australian penetration testing firms, red team consultancies and offensive security specialists. Your prospects now ask Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google for a CREST-approved pentest shop before they ever reach a shortlist of names. We make sure your firm is on that shortlist and defensible under technical scrutiny when it gets there.
What we do for pentest firms
- GEO against the real buyer prompts your prospects run against the engines, not keyword lists
- Service page rewrites that pass named-entity extraction so engines bind your firm's name to penetration testing, red team, adversary simulation and your region
- Directory and credential surfacing on Clutch, Semrush, Digital Agency Network, AISA and AustCyber, which the engines actually retrieve for Australian cybersecurity queries
- CREST, OSCP, OSCE, CRT and CRTE credential markup in on-page copy and schema so the engines quote the certifications your buyer filters on
- Case study rewrites that strip NDA-safe findings into a format engines can summarise back
- Weekly engine tracking across Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity with a quarterly report on what moved
The numbers
- 30-prompt baseline audit across 4 answer engines, then 40-prompt ongoing weekly tracking
- 8 to 12 hours of agency time per week
- 48 hour response time on all inbound enquiries
Why pentest firms specifically
Most agencies that take a pentest firm's money cannot tell a CREST engagement from an OSCP certification, and the content they produce reads that way. Your buyer is a CISO, a head of security or a technical procurement lead. They notice. PayloadFoundry is run by an active systems and security engineer who has sat on the client side of a pentest kickoff, so the content that leaves your site reads as if someone who understands the stack wrote it, because they did.
Pentest buyer prompts are also structurally different from generic cybersecurity marketing prompts. "Who provides CREST-approved penetration testing in Sydney" and "best red team consultancy for an ASX-listed firm" have narrow extraction surfaces. The firms the engines name tend to be the ones whose pages explicitly bind the certification, the service term and the region in the first paragraph. Most Australian pentest firms do not. That is the fix.
Who we work with
- Independent penetration testing firms (CREST or non-CREST)
- Red team and adversary simulation consultancies
- Offensive security boutiques
- DFIR practices with a retainer-based pentest line
- Purple team and continuous security validation specialists
- Vulnerability research shops with a services arm
How we work
The first two weeks are a baseline. We instrument your current visibility across the engines on your prompt set and audit your service pages for named-entity extraction. That gives you a clean before picture before we change anything.
Weeks three to eight are the compounding build. Service page rewrites and credential surfacing move Perplexity inside the first two indexing cycles. Directory presence catches up over two to four weeks. Claude and ChatGPT run on a 6 to 12 month training-cycle clock, so the trade press and editorial pitching we start in week three pays off outside the engagement's first quarter. We say so up front.
The quarterly report tells you which engine moved, which prompt moved and whether the move came from your changes or from the engine reshuffling. If a channel is not pulling its weight at the three month mark, we re-weight the hours.
FAQs
Do you require CREST or another certification to work with us?
No. We work with CREST, SOC 2 and uncertified pentest firms. If credentials are relevant to your buyer, we surface them. If they are not, we do not pad the page.
Can you make us look bigger than we are?
No, and your buyers would spot it. We make a four person pentest shop look exactly like a four person pentest shop with a specific area of depth. That is what the engines are extracting against.
Our case studies are all under NDA. Can you still work with us?
Yes. We rewrite findings into redacted, scenario-based case studies that keep the technical detail and remove the client identifier. The engines quote the scenario, not the logo.
How fast will we see citation movement?
Perplexity in four to six weeks on service page changes. Claude and ChatGPT in two quarters on sustained editorial coverage. The weekly tracking shows you both clocks separately.
Do you work with firms outside Australia?
The method ports. Our directory and trade-press network is Australia-weighted, so a firm with no Australian footprint gets less of what makes us specifically useful. We will say so during the first call.
